It’s been a great week for fans of the Minnesota United soccer team who have basked in the team’s success on the field.

The team, enjoying its first season in St. Paul’s new Allianz Field, has had a couple slip ups off the field, however. And for that CEO Chris Wright has offered public acknowledgement.

“Our goal is to provide our fans with the best possible experience at Allianz Field, both on gamedays and at special events,” Wright wrote in a statement published on Twitter. “We fell short of those standards this past week.”

There were two specific incidents cited by Wright. During the first, the team’s TV broadcast went down during its watch party at the Brew Hall for the U.S. Women’s National Team World Cup final. The team was not able to correct the incident quickly, nor was it prompt at communicating the issue to fans in attendance. “At the same time, we were somewhat overwhelmed by the number of people who came to the event, and our food and beverage service did not keep up with demand.”

The second, Wednesday, had to do with the team being unprepared to handle a last-minute rush of fans to enter the building, leaving long lines and some fans unable to watch the early part of the game. “This was not consistent with how we serve our fans or what our fans have grown to expect from us.”

Wright called the situations learning experiences and pledged to address them for future events.

“These are learning processes for us, and we recognize and acknowledge our shortcomings and will improve on them,” he wrote. “Our singular commitment is to provide a first-class experience for everyone who enters our doors — regardless of particular event or circumstance.”
